I gotta say- this is one of the most robust MTR threads I've ever seen. Gotta love it :)

We always mount our TV using good quality mounts. It's a liability issue for me- :)

Thanks for the detailed response. That is a lot. I currently have four doors in Northern CA region. I have no problems renting the studio or small one bedroom but the house is a bigger challenge. I work with house relocation specialists but it's a completely different skill set and 'grind'. My experience- you can get a lot more money through AirBnB but the process with Furnished Finders is much easier, more transparent and allows you to review potential guests more thoroughly. I like the mid-term space- love furnishing the spaces and making them unique but it's a lot of work.

I would definitely reach out to your own insurance agent. ALE solutions lets you post your MTR on their website.

The other strategy is to go to the hospitals, insurance companies on your own and ask for the person/company responsible for temporary housing.

Repairs is part of the LL's reality. I like Colleen's suggest of walking through the property. Use a thorough checklist.

Hi Jean-Marie,

Hubby and I put this together-- pretty straightforward with instructions. I liked it so much I put one in my other bedroom, so now I have 2 flex rooms at my home. When guests come, I have a space for them and we use it as an office/gym the rest of the time :)

Hi Jean-Marie,

Is there anyway you can make the second bathroom as a flex space? Maybe add a desk AND a murphy bed so it can be used either for a second bedroom or an office? That way you would open up more options for MTR's.

I agree with what Jamie said and can add-- Families that are displaced might choose a single family home over a basement suite since since displaced families get to choose the places that they want to stay.

I would definitely post on Airbnb. That's how I have picked up my last two rentals. You also get more money for your MTR on Airbnb. 3/2's can be tricky.

Additionally, I would look at corporate housing where you are more likely to get some hits from families and larger groups.

VRBO might also be useful :)
