@art allen .  After thinking about this a little more, Im wondering if it is more about the failure of the adhesive strip than it is being improperly fastened.  Maybe both.

Squeaky wheel gets the grease.... If its not covered under warranty it should be covered by your insurance.   If you are unable to do the repairs yourself, a handyman probably shouldn't charge very much to lace in a few shingles. It doesn't sound like anything more than an hours work.

They rent ground heaters.  Maybe hire a independent contractor to dig the line and just let the gas company run the pipe?

I have been around the residential remodeling industry from around the age of 10, 27yrs. Working on houses is my passion and hobby not just a job.  I have done a few "house hacks" as you call them but never did much more than break even after all expenses.   I took a bit to much personal intrest, spent more money than I should, but I did them for the love of the house, not so much with pure profit behind them.   I have or am in the process of inherenting a sum of money. Actually a house that should give me well over $50k after all expenses are paid.   I went through a divorce 7 years ago and have rented since.  I need to buy myself a house and would like a rental or two.
