smitnlit, thanks for the welcome! I have not visited the South Shore REIA, but I appreciate the thought and I will in the very least attend one of their meetings.
Thanks Dan, didn't want to set the bar too high or anything ;) But really, I agree, I want to keep this realistic and take it one step at a time. (for now!)

Hey Ryan,
Thanks for the welcome! I appreciate your comments.
Perhaps if our area is a little tougher a few good things could come from that.
It may mean many investors choose to go to other easier areas leaving more deals to be worked? And that learning investing in a tougher atmosphere would develop skills to a higher level?
Just thoughts...

Good morning BP,
Excited to be finally posting here! My name is Russ and I've lived in various towns in the South Shore of Massachusetts my whole life- love it here!
Real estate investing has always interested me and I have read books and surfed the net reading as much as I can about it, but at the end of the day I always end up on the sideline.
Although I enjoy what I do now, I have this growing sense of unease about not taking chances, of being too 'comfortable,' and not making the most of things. -- Maybe some of you can relate, or can remember the feeling before you started pursuing your dreams??
So with this intro I hope I am taking the first of very MANY steps towards becoming a successful real estate investor. I have several goals, but a few I should share now:
-My short term goal is to be an active member here on BP, asking questions to further my understanding of various investment techniques.
-My longer term goal is to apply the gained knowledge to make deals and then share them here on BP, as a way to give back to the community for everything that I will have taken from it. Although I have yet to singularly focus on one investment strategy, I have a goal that I will complete one deal by the end of 2010. This will be while maintaining my fulltime job and pursuing this on a part time basis.
May this be the spark that starts the fire!
