@Brandon Cooper the beem is 24x6”

It would have been a key conversation, but he came to remeasure when I said the construction/drywall was complete.

@Brian Pulaski

36” they should have been 30” (beem is 6”)... part of the issue is the sku on the drawing indicates 36” but the drawing/measurement shows a 30” corner cabinet (which would have been correct).

I am renovating a kitchen and a friend of mine recommended a Store locally that sells RTA cabinets. I went to the store, met the owner and paid for his guy to come measure and present the drawings. I did need to extend a wall to properly fit the relocated refrigerator and I removed the drop down ceiling which was stated during his measure. After all changes were made to the kitchen (wall extended and drop down removed) I called because I was concerned about the island being too close to refrigerators and I wanted a re-measure. I paid full fee for a second measure and we made a slight change to the island to accommodate more space between the refrigerator and island.

Fast forward, I hire my handyman to assemble the cabinets and install them. He calls me to tell me that the top cabinets are too big and only leaves a gaps of 12 inches is between the countertop and top cabinet. I call the store and tell them my problem. The owner says “we were under the impression that you were removing the beam on the back wall when the drop down ceiling was removed, you didn’t tell us that was staying. Are we mind readers?” I respond “well I paid you to come re-measure to make sure all the cabinets fit properly and the drawings indicated that the cabinets are in line with the window that is there. If the beem was removed the cabinets would be above the window...” we go back and forth, and his solution is to sell me the proper cabinets at his cost. The cabinets I purchased are white shaker cabinets which I am sure are probably 50% of his sales...

I feel like a good compromise is that he exchanges the cabinets for the proper size and I am on the hook for the cost of the handyman assembling the cabinets. I told him to give it some thought and come back to me with a better solution which he hasn’t done. I fee that we won’t come to a mutually fair agreement. So, I can submit an Amex claim which will put a hold on the funds, and I can settle this in court (never done this before).

Am I wrong?

@Michael Ablan I am 100% confident on price being fair, but think I need to offer on Zillow and maybe MLS.
