@Mark Sewell I'm very happy you want to get your daughter to start house hacking. Would love to help anyway I can.

I bought my first house hack in Austin, TX at 24 and now fast forward to 29 I have house hacked multiple properties in the north Austin and suburbs area. I am a realtor too so pretty knowledgeable on the process and have helped a lot of house hackers in Austin.

Set for Life is a great book and tell her to listen to my BiggerPockets podcast interview #352. Just came out a few months ago. I share a lot on how I got started.

If she has any question, tell her to reach out or send me an email.

Can you buy another property to house hack and rent out the unit you are currently in? That's is what I would do. I believe if you already used your FHA loan to buy your first duplex, then you would need a conventional loan for the next property.

Hi @Mia Garic, welcome to BP! Austin is a great market right now since there are a lot of companies expanding to this area. I am an investor in the area as well. I have invested in North Austin/Pflugerville and also East Austin. If you have any questions please let me know.

@Anthony Brown and @Sergey Vasylkov. I have experience house hacking around the Austin area, in Pflugerville to be exact. I own 3 properties in PF and I rent out the rooms. I get a lot more cashflow than just renting out to families. Yes, it requires a bit more work, but right now I am comfortable doing that because the cashflow helps me save faster to continue buying other homes. I bought my first property in 2014: A 4 bedroom 2 story home where I rent out the rooms and live in the master. I have been lucky with those roommates and haven't had a to make a mortgage payment with any money out of my pocket.

Would love to continue the conversation if you guys have more questions. Always happy to help.

Welcome to BP! You are right, it is a hot market in Austin and is getting very competitive.

I have been investing in the Pflugerville/Round Rock and East of the airport. Homes there are a bit less expensive can get some cashflow.

I like the Pflugerville area because of Dell, General Motors, Apple and Samsung are so close.

I can definitely answer any questions you may have about investing in those areas :)

Cheers to investing!

@Robert Kinsey Welcome to BP!

You will find this community very helpful including the podcasts! I have learned a lot from them.

I know of a great lender in Austin who can do portfolio loans and is investor friendly.

I can give you his information and you can reach out to him to discuss what type of financing is available :)
