@Robens Batraville

THank you very much for your feedback... yeah i had heard about the city of Montreal making a lot of noise against uber and airbnb i think it was 2 years ago. but since i thought a law was voted for those two. Thanks for reminding me about it.  I will do a little more research on it to ways to do legally or maybe to find an alternative.

@Jacob Perez

Is there any specific website you go to see vacancy rate, competition for Airbnb, most airbnb data...?

I browsed Airbnb website but could not find it.

@Roy N. Looks like Landlords do not have a lot of options in Canada compared to the US. do you mostly invest in New Brunswick or even though some of those other provinces are tenant biased you still find a way to forge ahead.

Thanks for pointing out that i will be viewed as a hotelier if doing short term rentals. it is something i was not aware of.

 yeah dfntly... I was thinking about it. I am thinking standard normal lease or corporate rental as backup. Still doing my research and analyzing a few properties

Hello,

I am doing a bit of research on short-term rental to see if it can be a profitable strategy.

I am a newbie. Where I am sitting at the moment is I am looking to purchase a property by the end of next year. Taking this year to accumulate my knowledge (with books, podcasts, this forum...) and also increase my investing funds.

After doing a bit of research, the province of Quebec offers some good pricing. You also have the Atlantic region but looking at the growth of the city I think Montreal is a good bet.

However, the laws in Montreal seems to be stacked against the landlords (no deposit, no last month, lengthy eviction process...).

After thinking a little more about it, I thought that short-term rentals could be a good strategy to work around those laws.

I am trying to see if anyone in the forum has experience with buying a property just for short-term rental either in the Montreal or Toronto region. But anywhere else in Canada as well is welcome.

Thank you very much.

Thank you all for your great feedbacks.

@Paul Sandhu .. How long did it take you to accumulate 22 STR?

@Tim Schroeder

@Tim Schroeder ... Thank you for those links. It will dfntly help increase my knowledge on this subject.

@Russell Brazil

Thanks for providing this information. I was under the impression that you had access to everything under the sun in the MLS. Thanks again.
