Awesome, thanks for the help.  I'm being transferred to our Lafayette office in a few weeks.

Are there any meetings in/near Lafayette?

I am new to some of the terminology.  What is a 203K loan?  Is there a type of deal it would be better to use it for?

Welcome @Trevor Chapman to BP. I am new to investing as well. I haven't done any deals yet, just acquiring education for the past few months so far. I currently live in Kenner, LA, but I'm interested in purchasing SFR and multi-families in the Lafayette and surrounding areas. I live too far and work too late to make it to the Acadiana REIA meetings during the week. I wish you luck on your journey.

Great advice @Dean H. and @Dulce Beltran.  I guess my biggest concern was funding and getting it in time before someone else scoops up the property.

I’ve been learning how to use the calculators (they are wonderful) to analyze deals. While practicing it occurred to me, which comes first a team or the property? Do I find contractors who work in an area and talk to lenders about an amount based on the area first? Or, do I find a property, analyze it, then go find lenders/contractors/etc?

@Braden Smith are you familiar with other areas besides the city of New  Orleans?  In particular, Jefferson Parish and Lafayette parishes.
