Roy N. Good thought. If the opportunity and numbers work out, buy the store could be a good buffer. Interested in other's thoughts. Will a corner store automatically give a pause to a potential renter?

I'm curious. I see what looks to be a good deal of a home that is on the edge of a trendy neighborhood. It is next door to what appears to be a well-maintained corner grocery store in Baltimore, Maryland. I remember as a kid being sent to the corner grocery and it all seemed good. But, I was a naive kid then, not an investor. Anybody have experience with homes next to corner grocery stores? What should one look for/be concerned about in this situation? What immediately comes to mind are pests, traffic, loitering? Your thoughts are appreciated.

Update: broached the idea with my wife (over beer). She accompanied me to my first open houses, I had to agree to watch re-runs of The West Wing with her.
