As someone who has never been in real estate or any facet of the business what is s the best place to start. I am currently reading a few books by Than Merrill, what else do I need to do? Remember no question is to dumb :)

my name is David Latil I live in Chattanooga,TN and was wondering if anybody knew of a good real estate person in the area I could ask advice. I really want to change my life and I am ready to learn.I am fixing to attend Than Merrill 3 day seminar in a couple weeks. I am gung-ho about this.
