I'd be interested in a local group for St. Augustine.

Get a good, zero annual fee, cash back credit card, and use it for your everyday expenses.  Pay it off in full each month, and ask for a soft credit limit raise a couple times a year.  As long as you never get charged interest you win.

Pay your bills on time every time, and have long standing credit accounts that show excellent payment history, and your credit score will rise.  It is also good to check your free credit report annually just to make sure it is clean.

Of course there are other things that go into a credit score, there are some good conversations about there archived on the site, but if you do the above then you'll be better off than most and well on your way to a great credit score.

Hello BP,

I've been browsing for a little while, enjoying the wealth of information on the site, but I figured this post was long over due.

My name is David, and I've had an interest in real estate investing for most of my adult life.  While it has taken me a bit to focus this casual interest, I'm thankful for the timing.  The knowledge shared across the site has both, kept me from rushing into foolish transactions, and emboldened my goals.  So, thank you to all who have contributed to the community.

I'm here to learn and share....and to at least finish the podcasts.  My plan is to purchase my first buy and hold in the next 6 months or so in the St. Augustine / Saint Johns County area.  In the mean time I'm working on laying a foundation of sustained growth in real estate.

Thanks again for the great site, and I'm looking forward to talking with everyone.
