Post: New Investor - need another umbrella?

Hi there,

I currently own a primary residence in California, and am closing on two SFH's in Missouri -- I have a Umbrella policy in place to cover beyond my homeowner's insurance for my primary home in CA, but my local agent says I can't add the MO properties to the Umbrella, and referred me to a local MO agent who wants to write me another Umbrella for those. Is this correct? Do I need a separate Umbrella for every state I buy property in? The Umbrella is with Allstate, so you'd think they'd be able to underwrite across state borders. Appreciate any thoughts/advice!

Hi San Diego investors!

I'm a SD resident entering the game and buying two SFH's in the KC, MO suburbs and am looking for recommendations on local (San Diego) CPAs that specialize in REI, and specifically have a knowledgeset for investors with holdings outside California.

In addition, as someone starting out with their first holdings, any recommendations on things to specifically knock out right off the bat with my new CPA would be much appreciated!

Last, if you are also a SD investor looking at or currently investing in the KC market, please connect!  Would love to have more local people to bounce ideas, thoughts, trends off of.

Thanks everyone!

Hi @Jennifer Lamb I am a San Diegan just getting into investing myself, and owner-occupy my SFR investments one at a time here in up and coming areas -- have been looking to put the proceeds from my last sale into some properties, and have been discouraged by the pricing here in SD -- after some time on BP I'm seriously considering the KC market and have started looking there. Any good referrals you might have as far as agents/brokers and property management companies would be greatly appreciated! Feel free to PM and connect with me! Best of luck here in SD!
