@Conrad Legé @Jake Fugman @RayHarrell thanks for the info and great questions -- let me be more specific. I'm talking about a smaller multi-unit (2-4) someplace where I could start out with renting one unit while living in the other. I'd prefer something with at least a moderate cash flow that would appreciate so I could meet ROI goals. As for budget, I'd like to stay somewhere between $200 - $400K range if that's possible.

Someone mentioned Little Village to me and I was wondering if anyone had any thoughts on the area for multi-units?

I'm new to the Chicago area. What has everyone found to be the best areas (or up and coming areas) to purchase a multi-unit?

Hey BP!

I'm a out of state investor with one SFH purchase under my belt in Austin Tx. For my second I'd like to get a duplex but Austin the duplex market thee is dissapearing.

So I'm looking towards Houston or Dallas to purchase a Duplex and figured I'd reach out to BP.

Zip codes to look in [and stay away from], comments, thoughts - any and all advice would be much appreciated!!

Thanks!

Post: As Austin, Tx fills up what about Manor?

Hey there BP members and followers!  Being that I'm a part time Austinite there's a discussion I'd like to start.

We all know Austin is a hot market.  With 150 people moving here daily, a low unemployment rate, good schools and great people it's a no-brainer!  With Cities like Round Rock, Leander and Cedar Park [to name a few] on fire it makes it more challenging for the newbie investor like myself.

So my question is what about Manor?

I've heard stories both good and bad. It's proximity to downtown is a plus. SFH in the area are selling and I'm seeing rentals as well. What say you all - do you think there might be something here for investors?

Hi Adrienne,

Thanks for the info - I'll certainly look into it.

It's always nice to meet a local even if you're not anymore! I'm up in the North Bronx!

Greetings BP,

I own a property, have managerial experience and I'm looking to move into property management.  I know every State has different requirements but I thought I'd come here and ask those with experience what they'd suggest.

Is there something I should concentrate on? A particular certification I should look into, software I need to learn, book you might suggest - those kinds of elements.

Thanks
