Thanks, Todd Fithian . Thanks for the feedback. Getting the remodel finished so that it can rented will likely fill my pockets more than any tax advantage.

Greetings everyone. I'm considering remodeling a bathroom in my current home. In a few months I will buy a new house and move into that home. I will then rent out my current home. Would it be better for tax purposes to remodel the bathroom while I live in it or wait until I move out and remodel it while it is a rental property?

Thoughts?

Thanks Luke Saglimbeni Is their a tax advantage or liability advantage to have each property as its own LLP? What kind of time and paperwork is involved in setting up a separate LLP for each property? I'm intrigued as I hadn't considered this option. Do you have a book you would recommend?

Thanks Charlie Palmer . I guess we need to have those adult conversations about the terms of ending the partnership regardless of business structure. I'll read more about these options.

My partner and I are just starting out and we are debating the pros and cons of forming an LLC. Are there significant advantages of the LLC over a simple partnership? What about the challenges in dissolving an LLC if we stop working together? Any tips are greatly appreciated.

John Burtle thank you so much for your service. I'm so glad to see that you are taking David Greene 's advice regarding the truck. You previous post gave me concern when I read that you were more concerned about the interest on your $1900 credit card versus the hefty truck debt. I am thrilled to see that you have turned that thinking around and decided to drop the weight. In your response to Chris Tan you did mentioned that you had an opportunity to make an extra $200-$300 per week helping your friend, but then mentioned that it will still take 5-6 months to pay off the credit card. It seems like you can have that paid down in two months with this extra pay. Did I miss something there? Continue to focus on dropping every monthly expense that you can. Cable tv, magazines, eating out, vacations... All need to be put on hold until the debt is paid off and you have a decent down payment for your first purchase. Best Darrin

Anyone else have concerns about short-term leasing if the price is right? I'd love to hear your experience with these leases.
