Post: Getting started in STR Co-hosting

Hi Everyone,

Here's why I'm here: we have two kids (12 and 9) who are fun, challenging, and have lots of ways to fill up my time. I'm working on building a boutique STR co-hosting business to get free of having to report to my brick-and-mortar W2. This will allow me to work more remotely most of the time and then allow me the flexibility to schedule property visits around our family schedule so I can continue to be the kind of husband and dad they deserve. This also includes providing for them financially beyond what we have accomplished so far.

We live in the greater Boston area and I'm focusing on Cape Cod to begin since we know the area. This will allow me to network and access properties personally while getting operations locked down. My goal is to eventually expand to the Northern Bay Area where I grew up to be able to support my parents as they get older. Once the business is up and running, I would also like to invest in one or two vacation home properties as destinations for my family and friends. My father-in-law used to do that in Vermont and it is something we really miss now that we don't have it anymore.

I have already joined a number of Facebook groups on the Cape and pertaining to larger management companies where owners are struggling with larger management companies.

If anyone has insights or tips for this particular niche of real estate, I would love to start some conversations and learn. My goal is to accomplish having a healthy business to leave my W2 job(s) in the next 12 months. Thanks to everyone in advance, look forward to speaking with you!
