I went to high school, got my diploma also a did running start and got my AA.
Then, I went and pursued starting my Bachelors in Software development and gaming development.
I am about 1/3 of the way through it right now and have about two more years left to finish it.
At that time of starting, my goal was to finish the degree and then have a job as a game developer and eventually move into Indie developement on my own.
After realizing the truth of working In a larger game development company, also realizing they’re all two hours away from my house (except some that are an hour away and I most likely wouldn’t be able to get into) and realizing my real passion is real estate/real estate investing I figured that I wanted a career switch into real estate completely.
I am nearing the end of my summer break from college and classes will start in a week.
I studied, took and passed the brokers test (during my break) and now I am going to be a broker in my area and also I have been working with Brandon Turner once a week. Also, I will be closing on my first real estate deal at the end of next month!
I’ve been feeling like I have a lot on my plate and doing too many things at once for a long time now. (Working 40-50 hours a week and doing a full time bachelors degree online.) Leading to my schooling not doing as well, half doing my goals and barely making it through a lot of stuff. Honestly I have just felt over stretched and that leads me to half doing everything which I hate.
I have been thinking about this decision for about three months now. I feel pretty set on what I want to do but some people have told me I need to be careful on what I choose and to make sure to have a fall back plan in case the market crashes or being realtor does not work out.
So here’s the question:
1. Should I keep pursuing my bachelors degree and get it even though I will be a realtor and my goals are to invest In real estate and eventually retire early and have a bachelors degree that I won’t use except for a game developing hobby once I retire.
2. Or should I put my focus completely into being a realtor and real estate investing. Then when I retire, I would pursue my hobby as a game designer with taking personal classes with a game development program I like. (One or Two classes instead of a whole degree that I’d only use for a hobby)
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
What degrees do you have? Are they useful? Should I finish my degree in something else maybe?
Thanks in advance.
