@Jason Schlager..Thanks for the welcome! I live near Purdue University (West Lafayette), which seems to stay at 40k students. I have noticed a lot of larger development going up closer to campus (4 story apartment buildings). This makes me cautious about buying a single family house that is farther away. I'm not sure about your market, but the market here seems to be full of large property management businesses. Can a person compete in that type of market? My other option is to invest in Lafayette (city accross the river) which seems to be growing with about 1,000 jobs being added in 2 years when the Subaru Assembly plant finishes its expansion...I don't want to make a monumental mistake, however I want to jump in feet first...any advice would be much appreciated.

@Adam Gerig Thanks for the welcome! I see you are from the Fort. I spent a couple of years at IPFW before moving down here. I have a brother who lives near FW, how is the market up there?

Hello! I am Chris a new member from a Lafayette, Indiana. I live in a college town with a lot of opportunity. I am looking to break into real estate investing. I have wanted to get started for years however have just sat on the sidelines. I am ready to finally get in the game. My goal is to earn passive income on the side while working my day job.
