Dear Chad,
Welcome to the big leagues, the world of Commercial Real estate!
- Establish relationships with Senior brokers: As a starter, you have little experience in the commercial world, but that is not an issue if you are wise. Get close to senior, top producing brokers in your firm. Find a way to be of service, to carry their burden. One of the most precious things that you have is time, and you are young. Many of these senior brokers don't have time, and are not young. This is an advantage
- Offer value: Reflect on your God-given talents and think about what value you can offer. As a businessman, that should be the primordial question: What value can I offer? With clients, master your market. One of the best things you can do is study the recently sold properties in your market. Get a list that can go back 3 years, and study what has sold. Study the price sold, the price per sq. ft, the sq. ft., the type of property. Being an expert means knowing your numbers
- Meet owners! One of the earlier mistakes I made was attending a bunch of networking events and meeting other brokers. Meeting other brokers is not wrong, they are just dead ends. You are in the business of meeting owners and getting listings.
Some little nuggets of wisdom. Enjoy the journey!
