Quote from @Thomas Mowers:

Hello guys,

my name is Nick Mowers! I just started the rookie boot camp last week to continue my real estate investing education. I recently graduated college and started a full-time job. I am hoping to get my first property next year through an FHA loan! After reading Rich Dad Poor Dad, I knew I wanted to become a real estate investor.

I am looking forward to connecting with people through bigger pockets. I was wondering if anyone here knows of any real estate meet-ups in Tampa.

Hi, Nick! Rich Dad Poor Dad is an awesome book! Often gets people to see the world through a new lens. If you would like to bounce ideas off of each other, reach out whenever!

Hello all

what's your thoughts on these markets for SF an MF

As more and more companies continue to move into Tampa, it's hard to believe Tampa and its surrounding suburbs wouldn't continue to grow at a very strong rate.

Quote from @Eliott Elias:

1. You can say you're unrepresented (which i wouldn't do)

2. Hire a realtor, doesn't cost you anything. If you literally just need them to submit a contract can negotiate commissions

 Fantastic advice here.

Hi, Doug -

It's kind of a house-by-house situation. Some houses took on serious wind damage and flooding but some look in great condition. The areas that were most prone to flooding were the properties located on a saltwater canal.

You can get a feel for how badly an individual property was affected through the updated descriptions on the MLS.

Hi, Terri-Leigh -

I'm so sorry to hear. If you haven't gotten to see the property yet, I would be willing to drive by and hop on facetime/Zoom to show you the condition. If there is any way I can be a resource for you I would love to help out! Hoping for the best!

 Hi Connor,

That is kind thank you! We have our contractor down there working on it. Luckily! And our tenants moved in last week.

That is great! Best of luck going forward!

Hi, Frank -

As of now, the market is continuing to push on and we are seeing deals continue to close here in Cape Coral. Hard to say what will happen within the next couple of months, but longer term this could be great for the area. New buildings will emerge and be rebuilt..parts of the city needed a bit of an update.

With people moving from various places in the Northeast and Midwest, I don't see Florida's demand slowing much. If I were you I would continue to move forward if the numbers work for you.

Does it make sense to be licensed in 2 different states? If so, when would it make the most sense? I currently am licensed in Minnesota but am looking to move to Florida and obtain a license there, should I keep my license active in MN if I get my Florida license?

Hi, all!

I am looking to begin my Real Estate Investing career by househacking a duplex. At this time, I am considering my options. I have a love for the Southwest Florida area and want to explore if this area may be a good fit. To do this, I'd like to make valuable connections that may benefit the both of us. Feel free to reach out and let's talk!

Quote from @Jeff Schemmel:

Welcome, @Connor Cornell I think you're right on, connecting with the local investors, agents, contractors, lenders, etc will help make it more real for you. I'm always excited to share what my experiences have been in REI. I house-hack here in MSP since ~2016 and I'm happy to meet up or do a zoom call to pass my knowledge on to you. @Jordan Moorhead nailed it with the recommendation for meetups, those are happening in person now, and some of the best ones happen at someone's flip, househack, etc.  Getting familiar with strategies, deal finding, deal analysis, and what it means to be a landlord can be learned from those of us who have lived it :).  Reach out anytime!

Thanks for reaching out, Jeff. Going to take you up on that!
