So would the best way to get a "part time" position with a broker be to just tell them my intention? wouldn't a potential employer be hesitant to hire somebody that is really just looking to get a license to bypass his business. I would like to be truthful with them. What would you guys do.

Can anybody explain to me why it seems that Iowa and Illinois require that you work for a broker office to become a licensed broker? I live right on the border and would be fine getting a license from either state simply to have full access to the MLS and look at homes listed without always going through an agent. I am willing to take the classes but it seems that in Illinois you have to have a sponsor from a broker agency to get the license and Iowa it actually states you need to be employed by an agency to get the license. To me this was a tactic to keep competition low . How is somebody that already has a full time job and just wants to invest in Real Estate suppose to get a license. If anybody if from either of these states that could help me out with this I would really appreciate it. Thanks!

I am a new guy just looking to become financially independent and thinking that real estate investing will get me the best return. I currently work in the tech field and have finally came to a point in my life where I am Fiscally ready to start investing in my families future. I am really looking to buy and hold for the most part. Hoping to cash flow a enough to put right back into other properties. I am not looking to get rich quick just build enough for early "retirement". My wife is the E-marketing project manager for a Fortune 750 company, so I hope to use her skills to the fullest to help get our business off the ground. I live on the Border of Iowa and Illinois in the Quad Cities area. I am always looking to meet new people and would love to get in touch with some other investors in the area.
