Hi Anthony,

Have had rentals for abourt 14 years in Berkeley Springs. Doing well mainly due to that it's a full year around rental and that it's close to the DC Metropolitan area.   I'm looking towards Ocean city or Hagerstown

Hi,

I"m also interested in rental properties in Hagerstown. I have been looking at duplex between $100k and $140k. I was thinking of properties under $50k, but I generally like to own property where I can go to if needed. Not sure how bad the areas that are under $50k are. Also, wasn't sure how the renter pool is for Hagerstown? I see lots of places being renovated and flipped in Hagerstown. I'm looking for a long term rental.

Hi @Rebecca Cramer

I'm looking at Airbnb/VRBO rental in Ocean City and also Lake Creek ideally under $150k. I have done well in Berkeley Springs, WV with STR but looking for other areas.

Checking if you made purchases in Lake Creek and if you have more insight into Ocean City market?

Thanks,

Claudio

I know this is an old thread. But was checking to see if investing in Ocean city is still good. I'm looking for a 1 bedroom under $150k near the beach with low condo fees. Renting it as STR (Airbnb, VRBO). Wanted to see how other people are doing with their Ocean city property as a short term rental?

I currently have STR in Berkeley Springs, WV and looking for new properties to rent out.

I'm looking to buy a property from $50k to $200 and rent them out. I'm looking more to buy and rent them out. Equity appreciation would be great but not necessary. Looking more for passive income.  I know city has each has their pros and cons.

With Hagerstown being low cost to properties but the pool of good tenants are lower. This would a long term rental and could be time-consuming trying to manage it

Frederick seems to have a higher property price but the pool of tenants is better. This would a long term rental and least amount of time-consuming trying to manage it

Ocean City has the highest property price but also the highest rental during the 13 week season. Ocean City would be more of STR and would a higher amount of managing it.

If there is another city that I should look at, please let me know. I looked at Baltimore as well.

Thanks,

@Ruth Lyons can you send me a message as well. I was looking into Hagerstown. I'm mainly looking for properties between $75k to $200k that I can either do short or long term rental.

I was looking at Hagerstown since the cost is very low and it seems it gets decent rental income.

@Caleb Wilson, I wish I had the ability to buy a $2 million multi-unit property. I'm not in that league yet.

@Account Closed, good point. My objective is passive income so cash flow is mandatory for me. I'm not as concerned about home equity though it would be nice to get some equity.

I did a lot of trial and error and now pretty comfortable with short term rental but the big thing for me is the location and knowing what locations are good for short/long term renters.
