Thanks @Joe Villeneuve appreciate the advise sir.  What zip codes do you look at in Michigan?

Too many to list.  I'm a west sider, so I look at these...as a start:

48239, 48240, 48197, 48150, 48152, 48154, ...and more

Thanks @Joe Villeneuve. Do you have a local realtor and PM company you would recommend?

Thanks,

Claude

As for tenant laws..Family and I have not had tenant issues in CA. The biggest issue in CA is just the price of housing in general. I am in the Bay Area where the cost of a house even in ****** neighborhoods is outrageous.

This might be a dumb question.

A realto in y area usually sells houses in a bid format. He has all interested parties show up on one day and present their max offer. He then presents the highest one to the seller. He figures it is faster than meeting with multiple clients and the seller.

I was thinking. Can this be done on my rental with new renters? We usuall only do one open house, collect 40 apps and then do the background checks. Can we also have folks come with a bid on what they are willing to pay monthly?

Just curious,

Claude

Everyone says "your own backyard" I don't see how that is possible starting out with only 40k in the San Jose market in CA. I don't know where to start unless I go out of state. I am looking for buy and hold or fix/flip.

Hi members,

I am new to BP. Have read some articles over the years. Looking to start heading down this path into a more dedicated full time mode over time. I have been listening to the podcasts and reading. I am looking for guidance and mentorship in the Bay Area (where it seems impossible to start). Everyone says start in your background, but with prices in the $700k-$1M range I don't see how.

I work in the valley at a high tech company in a successful leadership role and have run my own businesses in the past. Looking to make a life change.

Everyone talks about a San Jose meetup. Can someone share the details? I am looking to meet and speak with others in the Bay Area who have started with no experience and are willing to share their stories. Coffee/lunch is on me.

Thanks,

C
