Hello! My name is Erkang You. I'm software engineer working a 9-5 job.

I have zero knowledge about real estate, but I'm very interested. I would like to learn about rental property investment to diversify my income.

Looking forward to this new adventure!

Hi Erkang,

Welcome to Biggerpockets.  You have found a real estate goldmine so start digging.  I'm not a huge fan of the word diversification.  Some of us are heavily weighted in real estate, and we are extremely happy with owning this income-producing asset class.  As Warren Buffett said "Diversification is protection against ignorance.  It makes little sense if you know what you are doing."

One of my investment partners, @Bing Lee, lives in Fremont.  Hit him up for coffee and pick his brain.  If you want to talk to me, you will have to meet me at Q-cup.  :0)

If you're serious about investing in real estate, there are several FREE monthly meet-ups in the Bay Area.  @Johnson H.hosts a monthly meet-up at Whispers Cafe in North San Jose.  @J. Martin hosts a monthly meet-up in Oakland. @Shane Pearlman

@Shane Pearlmanis hosting a meet-up next Friday 4/10 in Santa Cruz.  You should be able to find someone to carpool if you want to go there and breath some fresh air and hear the waves crashing.  Looking forward to meeting you at one of the meet-ups in the near future.

Cheers.
