@Dan Vleck it isn't just a few bugs.. there are new bugs every day.  I don't think there are many people that wouldn't be bothered by the situation.

@Matthew Paul it was supposed to be fixed up.  It is also a bit outdated, but in a nicer area of town, so I was okay to take the old cabinets and old bath style etc... I would still expect a clean environment to live in.

If it does matter, the apartment is located in Minnesota, Minneapolis/Saint Louis Park.  My girlfriend and I moved into an apartment on May 1, 2017 (little over a month ago).  It was a pretty bad experience right out of the gate; apartment was FILTHY (cobwebs in all the corners), kitchen and bathroom faucet leaked, already had ants and spiders, tub was dirty, floor was dirty, door casing is basically falling off of the door, basically everything I didn't want.  When I had originally toured it, the leasing agent had said the current tenant was really messy, and that they would be cleaning it up/fixing stuff up (clearly they didn't).

We noted everything on our move in sheet, and called the property mgmt company and told them about it.  They offered to get someone out as soon as possible to finish cleaning and fix the faucets, we took them up on the faucets, but at that point we had already gone through and deep cleaned because we just wanted to move in.

Fast forward a few weeks... I'm particularly clean, and I do not like bugs, not at all.  We continue to find spiders and ants crawling throughout random areas of the house (probably because all the baseboards and door casing are 1/4 inch from being tight, and the fake wood floor that was put in was done in such a way that I can see dirt underneath certain spots where it is short from the wall/cabinets), but I try to deal with the spiders and ants on my own by just spraying some bug killer purchased at Target - I don't want to be that needy tenant.

About a month into our lease, I am giving the apartment a deep clean, and I end up finding two dead roaches.  Freaking out begins here.  I find it absolutely disgusting.  So I write my property management an email, asking them to resolve this.  I hear back from them the next day, they said they will send over pest control the following week.  I ask what I need to do to prepare, all they said is have any pets out of the place.  Pest control comes, and they spray around the baseboards, and thats about it.

Then today rolls around, and I start to notice a few itch bumps on random spots of my body.  Because of where they are placed, I am a bit concerned that something is biting me in my sleep.  I try convincing myself that it is just a mosquito getting me in my sleep, but I still end up tearing off the sheets and checking for bed bugs.  Although I didn't see any tell - tale signs of them, I did in the process find a few weird looking bugs hiding under the the side of the mattress (not bed bugs though, not sure what they were).  This brings on deep clean mode, because I am determined to get rid of these things.  I pull the bed out from the wall and find 4 spiders that are running around (killed them!), I start cleaning/spraying around the baseboards throughout the rest of the place and I ended up finding/killing 7 silverfish.

So TLDR: I keep finding bugs in my apartment, even after they came and sprayed.  I honestly just want to move to something that isn't ground level so I can avoid (or have less of) these problems.  What are my options??

Sorry for the wall of text.  Thanks for any replies.

Cheers.

Post: Flipping a house with radiator heating

I'm sure a lot of people have ran into this before..  I'm looking at a property tomorrow for a flip, and the heating in it is the old style radiators.  How do you update a house to look modern and keep the radiators?  Also, in the kitchen there is a radiator taking up a decent amount of space that could be used for lower cabinets instead... the kitchen is pretty small so all area counts, what do you do?

Greetings,

I've been seriously looking at properties for the past few weeks now, and have come to the conclusion that my current RE agent is a bit too busy to focus on me.  No hard feelings there, as I'm sure I'm not the biggest fish in his pond.

I'd like to find someone Mpls area that are specific to representing buyers, looking to find a deal for a flip.  I'm specifically focusing on west suburbs, calhoun/uptown area, and southern suburbs.

Conventional financing in place, as well as private money for rehab.  If you are interested in working together, please shoot me a direct message and let me know about yourself.

Also if anyone else has worked with agents that they feel could help me out, please send me a referral.

Thanks everyone,

Chris

Hey @Marlene Goldenberg, I have been working with @Corey Blane on my mortgage, I think he would be able to help you with you 203 (k) loan!

In my experience, the owner of a house can pull an "owner permit," versus the contractor pulling a permit.  So, as long as you own the house and can pull the owner permit, as well as do work that will pass code, I don't see the problem; but I'm not 100% sure on that, someone else chime in!

Post: List of local meet-ups

Hey all,

Wondering if there is a list of local meet ups that go on in the Minneapolis / St. Paul area. I have found the "Twin Cities REI" on meetup.com, other than that I'm not seeing a lot out there.

To be up front, I haven't done a whole ton of looking.. I haven't had much free time at all in the past few months, so I figured I'd go where I knew I'd find answers :)

Thanks in advance for any help.

Cheers,

Chris

Hey David,

I worked for a GC down here for a while, he also does a few flips here and there, so I know he is budget friendly and definitely very creative at sourcing materials.  PM me if you want his name/number
