Hello BP! I just thought i'd introduce myself to every one on here. My name's Chris and I currently live in ahwatukee, AZ. Born and raised in Lebanon until the age of 24 and came to the states about 6 years ago, was in Palo Alto, CA at first cause i used to work at facebook but then I relocated to AZ (cost of living in Palo Alto is out of control). I'm an IT consultant, I like my job but I don't love it because ultimately i just want to wake up in the morning and do whatever it is that I want to do and not have to report to some boss at the end of the day.

Really this whole thing started when I read Rich Dad, Poor Dad a few weeks ago and I thought to myself "what the hell am i doing!!" if you know what I mean? then after a lot of research and thinking about what it is that I really want to do to achieve financial freedom, i found BP! and now i'm hooked. I posted a few posts on here asking a few questions in the process of educating myself and the responses have been great, I also purchased the book on real estate investing written by Brandon off of amazon and i've been reading it, again i'm hooked!

It's all becoming clear now as far what my strategy is going to be (buy and hold fourplexes for rental income) and i'm pretty excited.

Hopefully i can meet a lot of people on here with the same interests and motivation as me and build some friendships while i take on this journey.

Thanks!!

What is considered a good deal on a 4plex in Phoenix? Would 150k to 200k be reasonable? i know it all depends on the area and whether the property is in good shape or not...

All valid points. Thanks @Assata Moore and @Michaela G. I don't think i would be able to find any properties for 10-15k, that would be amazing. I'm primarily looking at fourplexes in Phoenix and according to a quick loopnet search are listed starting at 150k depending on area and condition. But yes I agree, using a RE agent at least for the first few times is probably a good idea.

Hey everyone, i'm still fairly new to this but in the process of reading and educating myself, i was confused about using real estate agents or not. Let's say i found a good multifamily property listed on loopnet or zillow, is that considered info from the MLS? and if so, would I only be able to purchase it using a real estate agent if i decide not to get a RE license myself?

Hopefully I don't sound like too much of a beginner and thanks in advance!

@Lisa KohlThanks Lisa. Do you think pursuing single family instead of fourplex would be a smarter move than a fourplex in a hot market?
