Hello BP!

I am currently in the knowledge absorption/learning phase of REI! I have been learning and talking with people for about a yr now and I plan to make a purchase this year. However I am a long way away from making REI my primary job. I am currently a personal banker for a large bank and I will also have my RE license at the end of may. I plan to sell a few houses a yr nothing big as well as continue my current job all while finding that perfect property to invest in (Flip, rent or BRRRR).

Here is my question, I have an opportunity to become a MLO (Mortgage Loan Originator) within the same bank I currently work in. Does anyone have some advice on if being a Realtor, MLO and a REI? Is worth it or a good idea? My thought process is simple. Being immersed in RE in every aspect could not be a bad thing i wouldn't think. The networking possibilities as well with all of the experience and knowledge I would gain from all 3 jobs could really lend a hand across the 3 of them and compliment each other very well.

Has anyone ever been a realtor and a MLO and could give some personal experiences? Thanks everyone!

PS: My goal is to have REI be my primary career as soon as reasonably possible.

I do agree that there is a limited market for an exit but it you do your homework you might not want to sell your multi unit anytime soon. The rent on multi family is at an all time high and doesn't seem to be loosing momentum. Just don't buy with the hope that the market will keep this up! As for the BRRRR method, this does seem like a very lucrative strategy however I can maybe see it having some downfalls with you because you are like me and want to do the work yourself however sometimes this takes too long and you don't budget everything out like a contractor would. Without vast experience in rehab its hard to ACCURATELY forecast a rehab which could leave you underwater or out of money to complete.

It seems as if you have a great head on your shoulders and I am sure you will chose the best move for you.

Hello fellow knowledge hungry people! Wanted to take a few minutes to introduce myself to everyone. My name is Chris Jurgens, I live in Dayton Ohio (Born and raised in Medway to be exact) and I love knowledge and Real Estate! I have not quite settled in on a niche I want to pursue because I love it all, I can see the benefits in it all and I believe I can be good at it all! However my strong interest is in flipping and renting as well as some Realtor stuff. I will have my real estate license in may and plan on doing that on the side of my primary job (Personal Banker). If any one has some advise on some brokers to start my part time realtoring at that would be awesome!

I am knowledge hungry and always leaning! That is why I love this site so much! It brings people like me together and sometime that's hard to find! Most people are content where they are at but never me! The world is always changing and we better change with it! I also believe there is ALWAYS a better way, and I love trying to find it!

If anyone in the Dayton area would like to meet or give advise please don't hesitate! I love meeting new people and learning different ideas! Thanks everyone! I look forward in my stay here! - Chris Jurgens
