@Chris Hixon congrats! I bought my first Seattle property (Shoreline, actually) a few years ago. Sounds like you've knocked out most of the work already, but if you need recommendations for some solid vendors on future projects I'm more than happy to share. I've churned through a lot of bad ones to find the great ones.

Will do in the future. I believe I need to replace my roof soon!

Congrats on taking the plunge! Where in the PNW is it? Flipped a lot of homes in the past, don't be shy to make mistakes so long as you learn from them and know when to seek contractor help!

We bought down in Renton! We had to call in the big guns to do tile, but I was able to do everything else for the renovation. Has been a great learning experience. On the finishing touches now and have some other projects in mind!

Hi Chris, I am also new to the game and trying to buy my first home. Do you mind sharing how did you find this fixer upper deal?

I used an agent and the MLS. We gave our agent some criteria that we were looking for and they helped us find a couple on the market to look at.

Howdy everyone!

I just bought my first home up in the PNW despite the cost to get into the market! The wife and I got into a fixer upper that we will be improving while living here. We got out of the expensive rent for an expensive mortgage but are putting our blood, sweat and tears into making our dreams come true. Would love to meet up with other investors, contractors, and like minded people in the PNW!

Howdy everyone!

I have recently purchased my first home with my wife. It is a fixer upper that we are living in while we remodel. We are about 90% finished on a total bathroom remodel which would bring that space up to date with modern flooring and finishes. I also was able to fix some leaks in the old plumbing and make other improvements to the safety/livability of the space. I did most of the work myself (except for tiling and waterproofing of the shower) and would like to figure out a conservative estimate on ROI for all of our expenses. Would love to hear how other people come up with these estimates!
