Hey Jason,

Very good post!  I am in the same position being in the San Francisco area, every time we write an offer we just get outbid buy a cash buyer over our limit.  I have been reading as many post's on here as I can to try and find a different approach but think I may have to look out of the area.  LA and SF are really on a different level from most of the country.

Well good luck on finding stuff down south.

@J. Martin thank you for the welcome.  I wish we would have know about your meet up a couple weeks ago, we will have to make the next one for sure.  I do look forward to meeting everybody we can though and just bouncing ideas around.

@Christopher Carter an Eichler home is our dream home. We want to get some land somewhere and build a new Eichler home to current code. I've noticed the all cash as well, we have been approved for a loan that is right at the cusp of SFR and nice Condos. We offered on a house in Novato with no contingencies being I don't need inspections but lost to an all cash offer just a couple thousand over our max. We weren't ready to go up any so walked away. I'm not a coffee drinker but I sure do like a good Happy Hour! All my current projects are in SF so I'm in the city everyday of the week.

@Kathleen L. We are planning on San Rafael and Novato.  Prices are just getting to crazy anything south of San Rafael and they are actually creeping up there as well.  When I mean connection, I have lists of contractors from all trades and working relationships with them.  I also do work in Marin so I have gotten to know a lot of the building inspectors and office staff which makes the permit process that much easier :)  I'll have to check that meeting out but one day notice for me is tough to pull together.  I'll shoot to be at the next one for sure.

Such a great welcome on this Forum, I can tell i'll be hooked for sure

Hello BiggerPocket members,

My name is Chris, my wife and I moved to San Rafael CA from Denver CO about a year and half ago.  It was my life long dream to live in California (I know people think I'm crazy for that) and it has been the second greatest choice I have ever made (second to marrying my wife).

Anyway I was a hobby flipper in Denver, meaning we did it on the side for some extra cash and boy did we live a pretty crazy life.  From buying new vehicles, boats, toys and whatever other materialistic items you could think of.  Now that we are a little older and wiser I would like to start an actual company doing it and setting ourselves up for the future.

I have been in the construction industry for the last 15 years.  I started out green pushing a broom and cleaning up job sites to now being a project manager currently running 17 projects valued at $2MM in work alone.  I have built myself quite a book of connections in the bay area and now just need to meet the right partner to start our Real Estate venture.

Anyway thank you for the awesome site and if you want to know more about me just hesitate to ask.
