I am looking to forge relationships with a community bank in Texas to assist with lending for multifamily acquisition. Does anyone have any recommendations or experiences they are able to share. Do some only loan up to a certain threshold? Do some not loan if using the syndication model?

Thanks in advance

@Sharon Miller they are exercising their right as stated in the lease. No harm there. As a past tenant as I am sure most of us have been at some time in our lives, myself included, and.hence speaking from experience, I got shafted by landlords for things that were damaged or broken when I vacated but were there upon my arrival. If anything it shows a conscientious tenant that wants to look after the place and not get dinged for others actions.

Its like renting a car. You inspect for dents etc before driving it off the lot.

Doing the inspection before move in day allows for nothing to be hidden

Hello, all very valuable advice above. One point I would mention is that while doing a JV or a TIC instead of the syndication avenue takes the control of the deal away from you or at least dilutes it. By syndication you run the deal and are the final decision maker. In past experience a TIC or JV you need to really know and trust your partners.

I am a resident alien but my brother is not. We intend to keep the profits in the company for now.

Thanks Luka. Ive seeing that an LLC wont allow non US resident members, pushing me towards C corps, which then creates a double taxation scenario, which I'd like to avoid.

Can anyone recommend a tax accountant, specializing in foreign and Texas Tax issues
