It's also key to know your investor avatar, to a T. You can learn more about an avatar by googling around, but at its most basic it comes down to knowing exactly who the person is that would be interested in your value proposition.

Yes, that makes sense. So your say flips the script and positions my company, so I am drawing investors in vs. seeking them out. Developing such a strategy certainly would be ideal. 

Any recommendation on resources to build such a strategy?

I recently became the director of sales at my company and have been tasked with finding investors to help raise capital for my company to scale at a much faster rate. So my question is, what would be a good place to approach and start a dialogue with potential investors/land equity partners? 

Obviously, networking is the answer... and I am willing to do that. 

I am just not sure where to start networking or who with? What are some of your experiences with reaching out to potential investors?
