In my initial post, I used the word "turnkey".  Did I use that work incorrectly?  I want to buy a home already rehabbed and ready for tenants.

I know someone investing in that neighborhood. She is investing for the long haul.

Very good information about the railroad tracks.  I will be looking at the map when I search out areas.

I know very little about section 8 housing, other than the gov't pays some or all of the rent.  How does one go about renting homes to those eligible for section 8 housing?

I am also  interested in a response to this magic 8 ball question.

I am interested in buying and renting out a property in Melvindale Michigan.  My intention would be to rent it out and never live there.  I don't want to flip the house, so I would be buying a home turnkey.

Is this a good area for renters?  Are there areas that I should not consider?

Thank you,

Catherine

I haven't thought about that.  I wanted something paid off but earning more passive income probably means buying more  properties.

I have one investment property and it has appreciated a lot in value.   I would like to buy another investment property.

The question I have is should I refinance my original home and then pay cash for the second home or should I take out a second loan?

I haven't discussed this with any bank yet, so I don't know what they would advise.

Some friends steered me away from the Lehigh area as an out of state investor.   They thought it was high crime.

I bought in Ft Myers area instead.  Is Lehigh a nightmare for an out of state investors with a local property management firm?

I'm new to the game, but if the person is lying to you already, how can you expect anything different if he manages the properties.  It sounds like you need to count your blessings that you had the  home inspection done and then run away from him.
