Following this thread. I just spent a beautiful and fun week riding the trail systems for my honeymoon. My husband is an enthusiast who knows the trails well and travels to the area a couple times a year. I want to purchase a short term rental property (or maybe a couple) centralized between trail systems (thinking Kimball and or Delbarton ish). Love the idea of having a place to go that is our own and then we can make a few bucks on the side in between bi-annual vacations. I currently have a very successful Airbnb in Mayo MD (plus an additional rental property) so I have experience with the logistics. I can't find much on Zillow or Redfin, but saw a plethora of for sale by owner signs over the last week. Definitely need a real estate professional to help navigate. @Timothy Doenges and or @Anthony Hosea do either of you have experience in the area? I am flexible and open to BRRR and/or land for new build. My ultimate goal, once I retire from the Air Force, is to obtain my real estate license in order to enhance my investment opportunities, but right now I am still a novice :)
Some of the challenges that I feel I face starting out the gate are finding the RIGHT rehab company if I BRRR and then finding the right team to help with turnovers. The ownership team of one of the cabins we stayed in continually finds it challenging to keep good housekeepers and grounds staff.
Finally, side note, I am stationed in Ramstein, Germany. So a lot this process for me is going to be based on blind faith in the professionals that I wind up trusting. JP, my husband, lives in MD and can come down if needed but also runs his own company so his time is also precious. Of course, if I give him an excuse to go down and ride... well, maybe he can help more than I originally expected :)
@Kaleb Andrew Hanshaw do you have any positive or negative experiences you want to share on here or privately?
Looking forward to coming back to the US of A here in a year or so! I also look forward to conversations on here or privately.
Thanks in advance y'all!
