What sites do you guys use to get really good handle on a given area employment and growth prospects when you are evaluating a new area you might buy property in?

I use bestplaces.net, neighborhood scout, and spot crime to get basic gist of an area, but I feel like it is too general.

I'm looking to get more specific things like: 

1- employment by quarter

2- top area employers and # of employees

3- commercial construction permits and values

Stuff like that. Thanks for any help.

Hey guys- does anyone know a source of finding loan default rates for different commercial real estate asset types over time?

Example: mobile home parks, apartments, retail, industrial, etc

And, even better, that same information within asset types to the sub types- in retail for example I am particularly interested in neighborhood shopping/strip center default rates/performance over time.
