Got your email! Will stay in touch!
I live in Fort Bend County one of the fastest growing areas in America. There is land being sold for 8k an acre. The land is considered to be in the country but it will be 20 min from the new outlet mall they are building. What would you do? Buy an acre and let it sit and wai? Buy an acre and stuv a mobile home on it? Or pass?

Thank you all for the replies! Thankful for your time.
@Mark Masiel My interest rate is so low that over time I will make more money with that $4800 if I use it to invest versus, paying it off just to avoid the small interest fees.
Our goal is to be financially independent and 8-5 pm free through real estate. It seems as though many have advised me to move into my first property and then sell it...what if we were to remain in our apartment...and buy a couple lower income homes (low middle class homes)..wouldn't that give us a quicker return? (Or more gratification anyways) I can't bare to think I would buy a house that I don't necessary like...and wait more than a year to sell for a profit

Hello!
Looking to buy my first home! (buy and hold) I would like to give some (alot) details about my situation and ask some "what would you do" or "what do you think" questions.
I just married in May 2014.
My husband is a full time Petroleum Engineering Intern at UH and started a full time position at an engineering firm the day after our honeymoon. Before that he worked full time at an oilfield equipment company for several years. He makes $22/hour. His checks every month equal anywhere from $2500-3300 after taxes and health insurance.
I am a private school teacher. After taxes, I make $1800 a month. I started in 2012- 2013 took a year off to help family and then went back this school year 2014-2015 (I have a feeling that year off will hurt me when we apply for a loan)
We got married and both bought our cars cash from the local car auction (we have dealership connections) so we have no auto purchase credit
We live in an apartment.
We have excellent credit...I have a 776 score and his is I think, 750 or a couple points higher.
The only debt we have is about $4800 I am paying off from school loans.
We have almost 22k in savings. We have been able to save this much starting the month we got married, May 2014. We are able to save quite a large sum every month with our jobs, my photography, and I was also "flipping cars" earlier on.
I feel like we are in a good position to start investing. We don't own a house. We have no automobile purchase on our credit. I just feel hesitant, maybe we don't have a long enough time and a long enough "record." What do you think about our situation? Are we ready...should we just dive in?! We have been reading a lot and seeking advice. Any comments would be appreciated! Looking for a little guidance. What should be our next step? Thanks for the wisdom!

Does anyone have any book recommendations on real estate investing? Something that is up to date with current market conditions? I know that the market is constantly changing, I just want to make sure what I am reading is relevant to the times.
Appreciate it!

@Guy Gimenez Thank you for your input!
I definitely see the value in having someone more experienced help out in the whole process.
I hope to prevent any lack of knowledge situations by reading as much as possible and asking questions.. I also understand that there is a point where we must step out and put it all into action. Trying to be ready as possible, for sure!
I appreciate your time and input into BP!
