Post: New fence on neighbors property

My eight unit is on a sharp corner. The new  neighbor just put up a fence for their dog and it totally blocks visibility to our driveway. This has become a safety concern. What would you recommend doing? I don’t know if I should alert the town and have a sign saying blind driveway. Should I ask the library which is across the street if I could put a mirror to help see if something is coming. This road is residential and the speed limit is 30 but it still worries me about safety. If you don’t see someone or if they don’t see you it could end badly. It’s the neighbors right to put a fence on their land.

I have a single family with no mortgage but has a heloc. I also have a duplex with a conventional mortgage that I live in. I was talking to a lender about buying a four unit and he said I can’t use fha for it. He said I could only go down after buying fha, as in if I had bought a four unit then I could get a triplex or duplex. Has anyone else heard of this rule? Also the houses I’m looking at are less than 100 miles away. Could I be eligible for a duplex since I’m not going up in units but just staying the same? This whole process has been rocky and I want to get out of the house I am in now. Please help.

I have a four bedroom that I am renting out. This prospective tenant would have six people living there all together, two couples and two minors. She wants to be the only one on the lease. She said she wants to have the control. She can afford it herself and has a long term job and everything else checks out but I think it’s a little weird not to even put her husband on the lease at least. I hate to be skeptical but I try to be careful with what I am doing legally. Either she wants to leave her husband or she is doesn’t want me to know something about the people that would be moving in with her. Maybe she just wants to be “the boss” like she says and they are okay people. What do you think? Am I being too skeptical?

@Fred Frontstone I’m sorry. I meant when it was full with us living in a unit the numbers work out really well. My ex already said if I was buying the unit he would be moving. Also I know my current boyfriend would have a problem with it and probably my ex’s wife as well.

There is a four unit for sale and the numbers work out great. The only problem is there is two vacant apartments and my ex husband lives in an occupied apartment and an elderly man wants to move because he’s afraid of the rent being raised. If the old man does stay, that still leaves the owner to get two tenants, get rid of my ex and we would be in a unit as well. Should I put an offer in contingent upon the owner getting 3 out of the 4 units rented? What about if they don’t find someone by closing? It would be such a waste of time. Help!
@David Wright it would be buy and hold. I think the homeless would move on shortly.
There is a multi family I’ve been watching for a while. It’s a great price, for a 4unit. In June it was listed for $299k and was just reposted today for $259k. The rent would pay above and beyond the mortgage and we’ve already been shown the house a few months ago and it is in great shape. I’m just worried because behind the house is an decline to a walking path, in between the walking path and the house there are homeless staying and most likely druggies. It’s a problem with the city that they have been dealing with ever since the rehab shut down a few months ago. Winter is coming and you can’t live outside in nh here so I’m thinking they will leave. What are your opinions? The numbers are in our favor and I don’t know if I should worry about the homeless.

Post: Changing a single family into multi family

I have a four bedroom single family with an attached barn. I was thinking about making it into a multi family. A three bed one bath, upstairs, one bed one bath, downstairs and a 2-3bed one bath, barn. How do I go about changing the address? Do I need to get permission from the town? Do I have to petition it at the town meeting? Does anyone have personal experience doing this before?
