Ok here is a thought that I wanted to ask. What if you own a multifamily unit (size not important) and install renewable energy sources such as a solar panel system on the roof and said system provides enough electricity to the tenants that they wouldn't have a electric bill from the utility company. Could you, being the owner of the system providing the electricity then charge them a bill?

I have been in the learning stage of Real Estate Investing for awhile now. In my life I have not been able to pin point what I wanted to do with my life. I have tried many different avenues. At one point I wanted to see if truck driving was for me. I paid quite a bit of money to get my licence, and during my driving test it hit me hard that this not what I want to do. Now I have the fear of getting into anything because what if its not for me again.  Now that feeling is towards an opportunity that could get me closer to the real estate world.

In my area of Hallstead, PA there is a very young insurance agency that is looking for someone that is willing to get their licence and help build his growing business. He deals in collision, life, and PROPERTY insurance. He represents Farmers Insurance, and its only two years. Another plus to this is that he used to be a real estate agent in Baltimore. So he knows the RE world, and I think I can learn a lot from him.

But here is the catch for me: I don't anything about the insurance world. I have no idea if I'll like doing it or not. I would feel absolutely terrible if I waste his time to come out with a licence but hate the insurance game.

I'm hoping that there is at least one insurance agent on here that is also an Investor who reads this and has time to give me some advice or at least pick his brain.

Should I do it?

@Ian Walsh Can you explain what the 50 house rule is? I couldn't really find any information on it. Or if you have a resource I can read up about it.

I'm trying to figure out what I want to do in the real estate world. Let me better phrase that. I'm trying to figure out the best way to get in the door of real estate.

Me and my girlfriend (excuse me, Fiance) just recently got engaged and have been living together for a little over a month. We have to save for a car for her before winter, and we also have to pay for a wedding.

So with out unloading my life on BP what i am looking for is some local investors who could answer some of my questions. I would like to find a fix and flipper who would love for for great deals to just hand delivered to them. I am willing to do the work for getting the leads. Make no mistake I know that is what it takes: work.

@Erik Richards What are the procedures to attend the meeting? I have that Wednesday off and would like to attend to learn more about real estate and learn from the more experienced.

I'm overwhelmed. Over inspired at such quick and most helpful responses. It really showed me what a community BP really has. I signed up the same day as I posted this. So amazed. Thank you.

I'm very new. Learning as much as I can for free because I don't have the income to pay for much. I would like Real Estate Investing to be my career, but I feel fear of the unknown. That fear keeps me trying to learn instead of getting out there. Anyone got any ideas for me?
