@Marlon Wilson @Chris Eaker @Alec Harmon Thank you all for the warm welcome.  Alec, I hope to start attending the meetings soon, and thanks for the heads up.  I had actually been making the drive to Oak Ridge for the last two years so I am aware that cruise control is a must.

Hello BP!  I am a newbie who has recently moved to Clinton, TN.  I moved here from Williamsburg, KY a few months ago.  I am an accountant (governemental accounting).

For the last few years, I have debated on whether I should or shouldn't invest in real estate.  Circumstances over the last few years have allowed me to start a new career and move to a new location.  At the same time, we converted our former residence into a rental property and placed a mobile home on the adjoining lot.  My former residence in a rural area with lots of low income and low cost properties.  This leads to lots of opportunity for buying, but also lots of headache due to higher turnover.

By moving to larger area, close to Knoxville, my interest in REI really grew and research led me to this site. I have been reading forums, watching webinars, and have began listening to podcasts. It was been great and I love the idea of being able to build wealth through rental properties. I mean really?! How could someone not want to use other people's money to build equity and have cash flow?

I am hoping to begin attending some of the KnoxREI meetings and look forward to getting to meet many of the local real estate professions.

Thank you all for the responses.  I will start to dig a little deeper and see which areas I will attempt to focus on.

Hello,

I have recently moved to Clinton, Tn (just outside of Knoxville).  I still own a couple of rentals in KY, but hadn't really been that involved in real estate investing.  I have begang researching and believe that buy and hold is the route I prefer.  Can anyone give me a little guidance to the current state of the rental market around Knoxville, preferably close to Clinton?

Thanks,

Brian
