Should one who just starting out and looking to be a career investor utilizing various forms of investing; for example flips in the short term to produce faster returns and buy and hold for long term cashflow get a real estate license? What are the Pros and Cons to having(or not having) a real estate license as an investor?

Hello All,

I have learned through hearing and seeing from others that having a mentor plays a very significant part in the success of many in all industry's including obviously Real Estate. Now, I do know that there are many that have achieved significant success and wealth without a mentor, though I'm sure even those individuals recommend finding and learning from a mentor. I recently came across a gentleman whom lives in my local area and is a licensed contractor who flips homes full time. He appears through the in person and over the phone conversations to be a great guy and offered after I inquired about what he does for a living to share and show me what and how he does his work.

I've had and have whom I consider mentors, but not in real estate. Being that I am new to real estate, I would like to know what are some key questions or characteristics I should look for in a potential mentor? I'm willing to offer up as much time and effort as I can to the right person whom is willing to mentor me; any advice or feedback from you all would turn out to be very valuable.

Thanks in advance!

Brian

Hi @Michele Moreno . Thanks for the info and link. I just created a profile on Meetup last night; I had no idea that was the place to go when looking for local events. I had never heard of it. Anyway, I will do my best to attend the event in Manhattan too, maybe we'll get to meet.

Hope to see you there,

Brian

Hello All,

I am new here on the site just being a member for about a month now, and having a family and full time j.o.b., it can be a challenge to put the proper time into studying and building a network from home with all the things that can come up for a father and husband at home. I would really like to place myself in an environment with more like minded(real estate investors/entrepreneurs) people to build onto my network and knowledge. I would appreciate any insight into any local events going on in the Los Angeles or So Cal area.

Thanks in advance

Brian

Hey @BrandonTurner,

Thanks for the advice. I really like both the Ultimate Beginners Guide and the Podcast. Both are very valuable and you all at BP are truly a blessing to millions of people including myself. I did also set up Key word alerts too.

Thanks again
