Thank you everyone for the warm welcome.

I have some long-term investment plans that I'll expand on in future posts to get some feed back. But for now I am considering temporarily moving my family in with my mother so we can rent out our house in Dublin for a few years to let the equity build and have a cash flow of $800 (after mortgage, escrow and property management fee)  BTW purchased for $335K, owe $305K worth $660K. After renting for a few years we plan on selling and leaving CA.

My question is regarding capital gains tax and how that would / could impact the plan.  I would love to hear anyone's advice.

I am joining this community as one of my first steps in Real Estate investing.  My only Real Estate experience is being a home owner.  My hope is to produce enough revenue that my wife and I can quit our W2 jobs.  At this point, rental properties are my primary interest; however, that might very well change as I continue to learn more about Real Estate investing as a whole.

Just this week (4/25/16) I started listening to the BiggerPockets podcast.

I'm happy to be here and look forward learning from anyone willing to help.
