I have been reading like a mad man! 3 books a week for the last two months. All the must read oldies, Bigger Pocket Books, Rich Dad Poor Dad... The common theme is continue your self education, learn.

I love to pick up a book and read, but I am curious about how other investors are getting educated, and what you find has helped the most?

Taking Accounting Seminars at the local University?

Going to REI Group meet ups?

Just keep reading a book a week?

I recently took the first step towards building a good list of motivated sellers and investors looking for great deals. I started out by posting an advert in 10 high-rise condos in Calgary, Alberta. My intensions were to start building a list of Buyers and Sellers to create whatever deal I could work out. These adverts basically identified that I am not an agent but am buying condos in each of these buildings. The response was better than expected, and my initial sellers list was in the works... In trying to find out their motivation for selling they began to loose interest and eventually only made it to a single seller (but was highly motivated).

I'd love to hear what the network at BP thinks of the process taken. Is this common to loose so many leads while finding motivation? Is finding out their motivation as important as I thought it was? I'd love to know what other thoughts there may be on this list building activity!

For insight purposes, I got the seller all the way to getting the condo under contract. The deal ended up falling through while looking for the right buyer, but no matter it was an awesome learning experience and was my first attempt at Wholesaling (the beginnings of a great list has began to take form)

Hey Tom

Calgary is going to have more and more deals coming up soon. Oil and Gas are going to make some new deals here.

Hi, I am pretty stoked to be on Bigger Pockets, learning and connecting with other investors! I am from Nanaimo but currently live in Calgary, My biggest "WHY" is making my way back to Nanaimo and investing in Real Estate full time. I have loved real estate since I was in high school and over the years read and re-read book after book. The time to action and invest in the future of my family and community is well overdue!

I have been involved in a few Wholesaling deals but I allowed REI to be a hobby more than a lifestyle and am making that change now!

I'm excited to get this life started!
