Hey guys! Sorry I missed the meetup tonight. Hope it went well!
Do any of you use a Tax Law attorney?

@Brandon Wells @Tchaka Owen
Sounds like Tchaka is treating us all to St Elmos? I work around the corner from there so I’d gladly let you buy me dinner :).

@Bryan Richardson
Thank you sir! That’s kind of what I’ve been thinking. Try to use the equity out of my current home for our next home. Reading some other discussions, some people seem to do this every 1-2 years and continue to move family homes.
What're the benefits of refinancing with a standard mortgage vs. using a HELOC? I know some other programs are all about HELOCs so you keep stay on the positive end of the amortization.

@Derrick Smithson
Awesome! Thanks for the welcome! What were your steps in finding the right unit to brrr? Is it single or multi family? Are you doing the rehab or subbing it out?
Look forward to learning from you and everyone else here!

A handful of BP members have started a very informal BP meet up focused on networking and meeting other local investors. Our next meet up is at The District Tap on the northside on January 23, 6-8PM. Hope you both are able to make it.

Cameron, Thanks for the invite! I put it down in my calendar. Hope I'll be able to make it. Would be great to meet some locals involved in this.

I'd say yer Hoosier-fied after 7 years like it or not. Awesome ideas! I've been investing around Indy since 18, and live in Shebyville. Be happy to grab a coffee sometime! I have 3 kids as well, but congrats on the +1!
Hey Justin! Unfortunately you are correct... as much as I try to not admit it, but I'm a Hoosier now. I even married a Hoosier!
Not much of a coffee goer myself, but do love some starbucks hot chocolate. Now that we have the new one of exit 90 and i-65 would be easy for me to take you up on that offer. Thanks!

Hello fellow Midwesterner folks! I've been in Indiana for ~7 years. I moved out here from Utah after getting a job in Columbus, IN. I commute between Columbus, IN and Indianapolis, IN for work so I bought a home in Franklin, IN as a nice middle ground. I love the green of Indiana, but do miss the mountains of the west.
My background is all around automotive, but I've always been interested in real estate. Though, like many of us, not having the initial capital always deterred me. I purchased my home about 5 years ago with an FHA and went with a 15 year mortgage to build equity ASAP. My home has also appreciated ~33% since I purchased it. I work an 8-5 job which I actually like, most days. I also teach online for 2 separate Universities out West. I'll also be starting my MBA in a couple weeks. My wife and I have 3 kids with +1 on the way. (I try to stay busy). My hobbies are currently 3D printing, traveling, and "credit card hacking".
A friend referred me to BP and so far am really enjoying it. I attended my first webinar tonight, and jumped on the opportunity to go Pro and test out the rental calculator. Plus Brandon did throw in some cool things.
The reason for joining BP is my wife would like to move to the north side of Indianapolis to get some new scenery. I'd like to take the lessons learned from everyone here on how to turn my current home into a rental (if the numbers are correct) and then use some equity to purchase a better family home for us going forward. It would be great to use any unused equity to BRRRing or similar.
I look forward to learning from one another!

@Brandon Wells
Please send me a note when/where the January meet up is decided.
I’m looking into getting into the game here in Indy.
Thanks,
