Thank you for this advice. I was eager to get my first house and was looking in Frankford last year with the funds that I had but the area was not ideal.

This year I doubled my savings but am still saving more until I hit a certain amount to get a house in a better class area either outside of Philadelphia or over the Delaware River in NJ.

Morning Dr. Patel and everyone else,

Just following this thread, mainly because of the similar school debt situation close to $200k. Very insightful replies and I thank you for it

I'm not really concerned about tax benefits yet since I'm very new to this but if all goes well, I will be purchasing my first house to live in by the end of this year. Stuck between condo or a triplex+ for my first property.

Thank you and glad to be here as well! Learning a tremendous amount about real estate and "How to Invest In Real Estate" book is golden.

Good evening Caleb. I'm primarily looking in the residential side. I'm going for either a duplex or a triplex, living in one of the rooms and occupying the remaining spaces.

Thank you very much! I will definitely keep you updated on my journey, especially finding my first house.

Hello everyone!

My name is Brad and I was inspired to delve into the real estate world after Google recommended the Bigger Pockets podcasts to be in my playlist. Last week, I bought the "How to Invest In Real Estate" book and have been hooked on reading it ever since during my lunch break at work.

My goal next year is to purchase my first home. I am leaning towards house hacking as my first strategy for real estate and would like to make a net income of $200 after all is said and done.

I will definitely be lurking around in the forums, become a Pro Member, read books, and network to make my goal a reality. Thanks everyone!
