Post: Short Term Rentals - Denver - Lodger's Tax ID

Hi BP community,

Any folks here in Denver familiar with the specific details and steps to acquire a Lodger's Tax ID to start a short term rental (AirBNB, VRBO). I may be on the right track but I wanted to reach out to see who here in Denver, CO has completed this and could possibly give me some guidance. I've requested a "Letter ID" for eBiz Tax Center which I guess leads to being able to acquire a Lodger's Tax ID? This particular task seems a bit confusing but I see it's necessary to get my STR license with the City of Denver.

Any guidance/tips, etc. is greatly appreciated. We're looking to get our STR up and running as quickly as possible before the end of this year. Thank you!

Hi BP Community,

I am interested in obtaining a Colorado Real Estate License; does anyone have a RE License school they would recommend? It's likely that I will need to take the courses online vs. something in a physical classroom (if the schools are offering in person again).

I'm open to any recommendations, thank you!

Hi BP Community! My wife and I are looking for a tax accountant who is knowledgeable regarding rental real estate investing and other types of investing (index funds, retirement, various stock market investments, small business LLC). Preferably if we can find someone who is more of a tax strategist that would be phenomenal as we are interested in proactively managing all of the decisions we make that have tax implications. We will be operating our first short term rental property within the next few months as well and working towards our goal of financial independence over the next few years. Thank you!

Thank you @Joseph Firmin, @Steve Vaughan, @Edward B., @Darius Ogloza. I think I will go the HELOC route. It did seem to make the most sense to me as well. I appreciate the advice and recommendations.

Thank you @Matt M.! I appreciate the reply. We do have a great electrician, father/son team that we've used for years. If you ever need a great electrician let me know.

I'm looking for a good breakdown or sample scenarios of when it's best to use a HELOC versus a cash out refinance on our primary home to purchase an investment property. Given the current market and interest rates.
