Post: HELOC. Variable or Fixed

Looking to get a HELOC on my personal home to invest into my first STR. I'm stuck in picking what the best payment method would be. They are trying to get me into a fixed rate at 7.25% and the variable starts at 9%. My line of thinking is that the rates HAVE to be dropping below 7.25 rather than always being stuck there. Let me know if I'm crazy or not!

Does anyone have an MTR in Hilton head SC that would be able to drop some knowledge on me. Or maybe someone with experience in the area. Thanks in advance!

Quote from @Collin Hays:

I'd recommend taking an hour and blistering this forum.  Most of your questions have probably been asked and answered.

Not the same as a sitting with someone and getting live answers. I think it’s easier to blister the forums once I have a better idea of what im actually doing. I need someone to explain the nuances of the business that might not be found in my digging for answers! But I plan to be ALL over these forums to the best of my ability!

Who is willing to sit with me and let me blister you with STR questions. I am currently in the Rookie boot camp and would like to get some more time with someone who specializes in STR. Thanks in advance and look forward to someone taking the time if any!

Would a fix and flip be the first project someone should tackle if they are new to the business? Or would something like an STR be better to get into the business? Any advice is helpful!

I know the cleaning costs is going to vary pending on how often you have it booked. But my question is is what would we say the average cost of cleaning yearly is? A good guess would be nice just as I piddle around and research! I’m a newbie so be nice haha
