@Odie Ayaga Thanks Odie!  I know dude I'm feeling the pressure! Ha!  I was down in your neck of the woods yesterday checking some properties out.  Getting more comfortable everyday analyzing deals, but no, nothing too promising yet.  I'm realizing that it's definitely not going to be as easy in Jersey but I know it can be done.

About halfway through Chad's book.  It's really good! Can't put it down.

@Christopher Crean Thanks for the reply Chris.

@Jennifer Petrillo Thanks Jennifer. I totally agree. Every time I’m up in that area I can’t understand why the homes in those towns aren’t as nice as other Shore towns. It really is a beautiful spot overlooking the bay and city.

I'm curious to know if anyone is investing in the shore towns along the Raritan Bay from say, South Amboy to the Atlantic Highlands.  I know this whole area was devastated by Hurricane Sandy, but so was my town 30-40 minutes south and we are fully back and better than ever.  I like the area for a few reasons: The people that live there seem to be solid working class folk with a strong sense of communnity, access to the Parkway is easy,  every store you could possibly need is on Rte 35, the schools seem good, and it's probably an amazing place to live in the summer.

Does anyone have experience investing here or have any insight they would be willing to share?

Thanks!

@Dan Barli Hi Dan, thanks for the reply. Well after reading @David Greene ‘s book Long Distance Real Estate InvestIng I feel confident I could do it anywhere...but I’m working with an agent friend of mine in NJ to get the first one under my belt. I want to be more closely involved in the process to learn as much as possIble and be able to see it firsthand. However, buying real estate out of NJ might be the route I‘ll take. I’ll see how it goes here first. @Andrew Fredrickson thanks for the warm welcome!

Hello BP Community!

My name is Bob Manning and I'm an aspiring REI from NJ.

Like many others here, I read Rich Dad Poor Dad. That book blew my mind and my thinking about life and work has changed.

I’m currently a medical device distributor in the NJ spine market. While it’s a great career and I make a nice living, it’s a young man’s game and I know this ride won’t last forever.

I love the idea of making passive income and getting to financial independence. Who doesn’t I guess?

I’m going to focus my efforts on small 2-4 unit multi family properties  and go from there.  I own my home and have a substantial amount of equity in it. I never thought about home equity like I do now after read RDPD and from here on BP. Good stuff!

My goals are to:

- Complete my first deal before the end of 2018

- Take @Brandon Turner surfing here in NJ

- Use stack method to grow my portfolio

- Own one storage facility in my lifetime

I’m looking to make friends and partnerships here. I’m looking forward to giving it back when I become a seasoned veteran hopefully sooner than later.

Thank you BP!

Bob Manning
