@Mike D. Gotcha, thanks for clearing that up for me, Mike!

@George P. hahaha thanks for that real, straight forward response, I love it.

@John Geldert Thanks for all that info! I agree, I do want to become more familiar with the structure/electrical/plumbing of a house anyways so I might go for it

@Paul Timmins Thanks for that tip, Mark! Just wondering, were you a home inspector before you became a real estate investor? I've yet to make my first purchase but my goal is to buy a MFR (ideally a triplex or fourplex) by July2016. Also, do you work for a company or are you a freelancer for home inspection? Was it a hassle to get your certification?

@Mike D. Thanks for the quick response! I totally agree about adding to your set of skills.

Do you know when they are usually inspected then? I read on a quick google search that they're usually hired by real estate agents and brokers..so does that mean that they're hired right before they're about to sell the house to a potential buyer?

Hi everyone!

So I'm a newbie and I'm still in the process of trying to find good deals and learn different strategies, but someone mentioned to me the other day that I should become a certified home inspector if I'm becoming a real estate investor. At first, I didn't think it was such a good idea but the more I thought about it, it'll definitely help me see big problems early on and maybe even help me make extra cash on the side.

What do you guys think?

ALSO I was wondering, do home inspectors usually inspect houses before they are put on the market to be sold?

Thank you in advance for taking the time to read this!! =)

@Peter O'Donnell Hi Peter, thanks for giving me that perspective on relating my dancing to REI, really cool. I'm the type of person to get really passionate about something once I decide to do it so I'm super excited about my future REI adventures! and you're definitely right about BP being an awesome resource..I wish I'd known of it sooner! Thanks for your kind and supportive words =)

@Matthew Gilbert Hi Matthew, thanks for reaching out! I'm always stoked to meet other investors in my region! Are you currently in any Orlando REI clubs? Someone was kind enough to send me a list of them to me earlier today so I could forward those to you if you're interested =) I look forward to hearing about your future REI adventures as well. From newbie to newbie, best of luck!

@Mark

@Mark Nolan thanks for the welcome and taking the time to read my post!

Thanks for the warm welcome @Silvica Rosca and @John Kent! Yes, BP is AWESOME with so many resources! Thanks for the feedback on my goal and tips to learn better, Silvica.

John, yay a fellow Central Floridian! haha Are there any clubs or organizations in the city that people go to to network or talk about REI? I looked it up on google the other day and found some paid membership type clubs, but I didn't register since I registered to be a Pro on BP.. I guess the question I'm asking is if having ONLY BP Pro is enough to network with people or if i should go out and sign up for one of these paid city memberships..OR if there are some meet-ups/clubs I don't even know about.

Again, thank you all for the feedback, and I will definitely try to give back by sharing my experiences/adventures with yall =) Like I said, I'm still a super newbie with about 2 weeks worth of knowledge so it might take some time, but I am thrilled to get there!

Hi everyone!! My name is Bo Park and I am a 21 year old newbie to the real estate world.. I actually just started researching/reading/listening to podcasts less than a month ago. It's a lot to take in but I am genuinely excited about becoming a part of this industry and networking with you all!

I currently live in Orlando, FL and that is the area I'm planning on starting out in. I also spend a lot of time in Daytona Beach, Fl so that is also another option. One of my current goals is to acquire at LEAST one rental unit by July 2016. *Do you guys think this is a reasonable goal?

My other major goal is to finish and launch my Ecommerce before this fall semester (I'm currently a senior majoring in Finance at UCF.)

Another major part of my life is my dance life. I'm a street dancer (popping) and very active in the hiphop community. (I'm actually at my friend's house in Canada right now writing this post cause we just got back from a dance competition.) I know, that's completely random but just a fun-fact for you all haha. I actually think my dance can help me in real-estate because it makes me use the creative side of my brain, which I could definitely use when thinking about creative financing.

Thanks for reading my first post! (sorry if it was too long)

Can't wait to learn more and chat with all you amazing people!

@Daniel Ryu Hi Daniel,

wow that is awesome! thanks so much for reaching out! How long have you been living in Korea? That actually makes me feel a lot better about the possibility of moving there in a couple years. Thanks a lot^^
