Hello Everyone!

I am looking to connect with a real estate agent in Chicago. I am specifically looking at multi units in West Chicago and would love some help. Any information people can offer me I would really appreciate. Thanks!

Hello all,

I had a general question for all of those smart investors out there on bigger pockets! I am fresh out of school and I am trying to find a quad-plex to invest in in the Chicago-land area. This will be my first property and for the last few months I have been researching/ educating myself to make a move but have not done so yet. I do not have a ton of money saved up to purchase a place in cash so I am looking to apply for a mortgage. I make decent money and I have good credit that has been established for a good amount of time, but will need a cosigner. I was wondering if anyone has ever been in a similar situation/ has any tips?

Some of the questions that I have are:

1. What type of mortgage should I look into/ compare if looking to house hack?

2. How early should I apply for the mortgage?

3. Does anyone have any good recommendations for agents in the Chicago area?

I would really appreciate the guidance from anyone that knows/ has been in this situation before. Thanks a lot!

@Matt Boyle Hey Matt! I appreciate you reaching out. I agree with you completely that there is a ton of research to be done. I have been combing through the forums and such just gaining an understanding of how people go from start to finish. It is pretty interesting and somewhat confusing on some of the strategies that people implement.

That is the biggest test for me right now, deciding what's the best first action. But once I narrow down a location and obviously the right deal it will fall into place.

Networking is FOR SURE something that I need to start doing more of though. As of now it has all been research.

If you do find any good tips/ suggestions for going at the Chicagoland area I would greatly appreciate the advice, and I will do the same since we are in the same boat. Thanks again for reaching out!

Hello all,

I have never done anything with real estate before, even though it have always been somewhat interested in the idea. I stumbled upon the bigger pockets podcast and I instantly got addicted to the ideas and strategies talked about during the show. I am eager to get in the game, but I am not naive to the fact that this business is not an art that can be mastered quickly without guidance and a strict code.

I am fresh out of school so obviously even though I have a full-time job, funds for investing are somewhat limited. I would love to find a house hacking opportunity near Chicago, more toward my work. Although, I know there may be stronger areas in the midwest for investing. I also think that apartment rentals may be the direction I am headed based on what I am looking for.

If anyone in the Chicago land area or around the midwest has any specific suggestions/ tips at this time I would really appreciate it.

On that same note, anyone with advise for a new investor would also be greatly valued. I hope to hear from anyone willing to talk. Also, GO HAWKEYES!
