There is a decent chance I will be moving from Northern California to the Erie area for school in August. I'm checking out campus in a few weeks if everything lines up. Since I have 7 months before my likely move I figured I would ask BP about the area. Neat things to do, restaurants, bars, any info would be appreciated.

As someone who is disabled, whose income, at this time, is derived from a government program, I find the statements of certain posters to be not only extremely prejudicial but ignorant, uneducated, and blatantly offensive. Though I use a power wheelchair, I was accepted into a state university where I studied business. Although I did not finish, I gathered enough units to receive three associates degrees from a local community college and will probably finish my bachelors degree when my life and health allow. I have good credit and am relatively certain that my previous landlord would gladly give me a positive reference. In the over a year I lived there I always paid my rent promptly and without incident. I rely on government assistance because finding a job when wheelchair-bound is incredibly difficult, especially in my area. Even so, I desire to come off the assistance program as soon as possible. Just so were clear my GPA in college was well above a 3.0. I DID NOT SIMPLY BARELY SCRAPE BY!

I see foreclosed lots around warzone cites (Cleveland) for 5-$10. Why so cheap? Back taxes? Are banks just that desperate (They can't be, even there they have to be worth a few hundred)?

The comp (there are not many) I'm looking at is smaller and has a unit with one less bedroom but is 35 years newer (1955 vs 1920). I am just wondering how age affects value in general terms?

Thanks, for the reply. No I don't have buyers. I figured I would I would advertise on Craigslist after locking it up or partner with a local via BP or I could put a vague add on CL now to check general type interest. Any advice on this? It would be my first deal. Though I I have no money so the earnest money deposit could be an issue.

It's from the MLS. Can just contact a local (investor friendly) buyers agent to write everything up or....?
