@Joe Splitrock - while the odds are low, I agree we need to be ready on these things. What a terrible story - we are definitely in a human business where stakes (people’s shelter) are deeply ingrained in ours and our tenants’ basic human need.
I have been in education for years and I wonder how translatable the active shooter training we do is relevant to office spaces. We had one training where the local PD used our campus and our staff to practice and train their officers. We were in the training in various places in the building and it allowed the officers to search our building, know it’s floor plan, in case anything happened. We were able to experience some of the intensity of the situation (they shot blanks in the building). I imagine that could be used in an office setting. We followed up with a presentation from the PD on best practices. Basically it’s run, if you can’t then hide, if you can’t then fight. Run, hide, fight.
