Thank you so much, really appreciate all the great information. Did the research and found out that Bolingbrook actually does not allow short term rentals, unless you live in the property you are allow to rent out one bedroom only.

It property does have a permit violation, I will look into the website for more information and see if it’s worth moving forward with that property . 

I've being looking into buying my first rental property. I came across a single family property that has a kitchen in the basement without a permit as well as the deck on the backyard. Would I still need to fix the permit issue, if I take down the kitchen and don't plan to use the basement as a rental?
