Hey marco,

Why you think it ain´t a good idea to go into apartements right away?

I´m allso a new investor in the RE industrie, but where im looking to invest, multiple familie houses arnt the big deal.. its choosing between single familie homes and apartements.

My heart is fallen for apartements, becouse it looks to me that the maintenance is lower than the average house after a few years, you shouldnt repair a roof for say.

Hey shawn, and what you mean with "having boots on the ground" like a property manager or some close friend/family who you trust that can fix (smaller) problems for you while you are away?

Hey steven, i know what you mean. I'm lucky my girl has the slovak nationalitie so its a little bit easy-er for me to start, but im focussing now on how i can make a good deal there without burning my money, and most importently where i need to think about, the crucial things..

My first plan was buying from a "RE- bureau" who sells properties and pay little bit more but handles all the papers for me.. but last week i found a guy (online) who is a lawyer and sworn translator there and he speaks my language (dutch). the man himself is living there for 20+ years so he should know the rules, i will try to work with him to get some deals from other landloards or 'normal' people to get cheaper deals.

hello BiggerPockets Family, im fairly new to the site as an active member.

though im allready here for a long time, lurking around and watching and listening the podcast,

well annyway here is the deal,

im interested in investing/buying appartements in Slovakia. properties there go for as low as 30k for 1 or 2 rooms, and bring in around 300 p.m in rent, up to 500k for 5 rooms in the capital city.. Life there is just a little cheaper than most countries, and in the future im planning to move there and live my life to the fullest.

but im little scared to start out, im hoping to find a good landlord soon so he can manage the properties when i buy one, becouse till im goin to live there its around 1200km drive..

so im basically hoping you guys could give me some advise on how to sucsessfully invest in a foreign country, buy frome RE bureaus, contract, etc etc etc...  since im not interested in getting burnt on my first persue, looking for a mentor in this kind of investing isnt so easy i think, becouse most people will pursue rentals in their close neighborhood.

im hoping my grammar isnt to harsh on you, wishing you the best.

Greetings, B.

Good evening BP,

Im new on BP and allready read a ton of information and still reading here daily.

Im interested in buying apartements and put them up for rent in Slovakia, for me good looking apartements are up for sale for around 70k - 100k depends on the numbers of rooms ofc.

The Rent in the area there is around 500/550€ /month. ( 563,35$/) excl. Expenses and fees.

So im looking to have around 250/300 netto monthly.

But i still feel, like im missing some of the crusial information for setting up some good rental propartys in a foreign land witch i should know, that can lead to problems later on witch i could have avoided with more Experiance.

Like,

- how to find decent people for renting my place. (Since im living 1200km away atm.)

- how do you find a decent 'landlord' to look after my property and fix little things when needed.(my girlfriends family live's there but its allso 1.5h from the location.)

And maybe a few other things witch i must keep in mind..?

Thanks.
